Dr David Masondo was reappointed as Deputy Minister of Finance on Wednesday, 3 July, having previously held the role since Thursday, 30 May 2019, says the Sunday Times.
According to the Sunday Times, he earned his PhD from New York University, focusing on post-apartheid industrial policy in South Africa's automotive sector and completed his BA and MA at Wits University. With over 30 years as a political activist, Dr Masondo has held numerous positions, including Finance MEC and CEO of the Automotive Industry Development Centre. As a member of the ANC's National Executive Committee, he is committed to education, serving as the founding principal of the OR Tambo School of Leadership and chairing the Topisa Trust, which supports youth development in Limpopo.

The Sunday Times Top 100 Companies Awards acknowledge listed companies which have earned the highest returns on the JSE for their shareholders over the last five years, based on a theoretical investment of R10 000. This year's investment measurement period has run from Sunday, 1 September 2019 to Saturday, 31 August 2024, with the winning company being the one which has created the most wealth and value for shareholders over that period, assuming reinvestment of all dividends, bonus share allotments and special payments.
The Business Leader of the Year — voted for by the CEOs of the previous year's Top 100 Companies — and the Lifetime Achievement Award recipient will be announced on Wednesday, 20 November, says the publication.
The Sunday Times concludes that the Top 100 Companies is futured by BCX and powered by Deloitte.
