After a successful business career, Graham-Maré's journey into politics
began in 2009 in Aberdeen, Eastern Cape, and she later served as a councillor
in the Dr Beyers Naudé Local Municipality from 2011 to 2019. On Wednesday, 3 July 2024, she was appointed as the Deputy
Minister of Electricity and Energy, says the NPC.
Graham-Maré is not only defined by her political career but also by her resilience
as a two-time cancer survivor and her passionate advocacy for cancer
awareness. Graham-Maré's journey exemplifies her determination, proving that cancer does not
define her as she continues to live an empowered and authentic life, says PinkDrive.
"Cancer is a thief, but it cannot take your dreams," Graham-Maré says. "Both of my battles with cancer have shown me the importance of
perseverance, hope and the power of community. It's an honour to serve as
PinkDrive's Ambassador and to use my story to help others find the strength to
fight."
Her personal experiences with cancer have left an indelible mark on Samantha,
and she is dedicated to raising awareness and supporting others who are facing
similar battles. PinkDrive’s work, which includes providing mobile clinics,
cancer screenings, and health education, resonates deeply with her, as she
knows firsthand the importance of early detection and accessible healthcare.
"I am proud to partner with PinkDrive," Graham-Maré adds. "My own experiences
have shown me the importance of never giving up. The support from my family, my
colleagues and my community has been invaluable. I want to make sure others
know that they are not alone in their fight."
PinkDrive NPC's CEO and Founder, Noelene Kotschan, says, "Samantha's incredible journey, leadership and
dedication to making a positive impact in the lives of others make her an ideal
ambassador for PinkDrive. We are excited to work with her to continue our
mission of providing life-saving cancer care to communities in need."
With Graham-Maré's support, PinkDrive says it aims to extend its reach and impact,
ensuring that more individuals are educated, screened and supported in their
fight against cancer.
PinkDrive concludes by encouraging individuals to join it in supporting PinkDrive's mission by donating or volunteering to help
bring life-saving cancer screening to underserved communities.
