Thus, it is essential that creatives take into account a few tips for getting a foot in the door and learning how to get creative media jobs with no experience.

Resilience and creativity are essential. It's possible, and here's how you can get a creative career without experience:

What jobs are considered a creative career path?

There are a variety of creative media jobs available today, including the following areas:
  • marketing
  • graphic design
  • advertising
  • entertainment
  • branding
  • film, and
  • media.

Steps to get a creative career without having any experience

Step 1: Begin with some creative hobbies and meet people who share the interest

You should think about getting a hobby if you haven't done so yet.

You should consider turning your hobby into a true passion if you have some sort of a hobby. In the case of a really great hobby you already enjoy, there's no better feeling than when you meet someone who's into the same things you are, and to realise that it's kind of annoying to be surrounded by people who don't "get it" either.

You want to find a creative hobby that you are good at. It might be creating posters for social media or playing around with a few word choices, and you end up making a poem or song.

Thus, you should find a hobby and meet some people who like it as well. You'll need a team to encourage and support you.

Step 2: Define your passions and get rid of your non-starters
You will need to decide what hobby you will spend a little more time on if you are spending a lot of time on all of your hobbies. Choosing something that you are genuinely passionate about will help you kick-start your creative career.

How do you define a non-starter? It is something that leads nowhere. It has no impact on your life in any way. You can continue doing these things if you enjoy them, but if you're really looking to start a creative career, you might want to curtail them until you've figured out your passion.

Step 3: Look for successful people who are doing what you are trying to do
The problem with this one is that it can be frustrating to see other people do what you want to do.

Avoid wallowing in self-pity. Basically, you're looking for people doing what you're doing in order to realise that there is a place for you in this industry. If establishing a creative business online is your goal, there are seven billion people in the world and millions of companies looking to hire people with your interests.

You don't have to stop doing what you want to do because someone else is already doing it. Your goal is to take what they have already accomplished and use it as a basic blueprint for how you can achieve the same results.

Who were the companies they worked for? What was their position? What was the length of time they worked for that company? Perhaps you could contact them. Look at potential bursaries in the media sector if you're looking at further education.

Finding a network of people who have done what you want to do can help you get to where they are without experience. They can pass on the knowledge they have learned to you.

As you learn about yourself and what you like, you can:
  • meet some people who want those things too
  • seek out successful people doing the same thing
  • take the time to focus and learn, and
  • network in the right circles.

You will eventually be successful.

Remember to make sure your LinkedIn profile is current and send out your updated resume. You might want to consider working part-time or on weekends to try and gain experience even when you are starting a career.

Spend a little time working for someone else. Put up adverts on social media or answer adverts there and work on the weekends and in the evenings to start. You might want to consider your creative career change as an entrepreneurial one, and you need to build a client base and advertise that you're in business.

Whichever it is, you should now be at a point where you can start your creative career without any experience.
